Preschool Parent Guide

Preschool parenting ideas, teaching strategies, and research-based information in Early Childhood Education

About Us

Weekly posts share current information and act as an invitation to partner with Early Childhood Educators in research and practice. Our aim is that you feel well-informed to respond to your child’s needs.

Dr. Carol Burbee’s Preschool Parent Guide (PPG) is an educational services company with three primary streams:

1) Online Professional Development – personalized learning plans and resources for Early Childhood Professionals are housed within a secure online learning management platform accessible any time.

2) Instructional Coaching – personalized mentorship supports Early Childhood Professionals to meet their professional learning goals and address dilemmas of practice. Flexible scheduling of one-hour sessions are available in-person and via web conferencing.

3) Educational Blog – a public educational blog is maintained to support parents and families. Blog articles highlight current research and practice.

PPG invites families and Early Childhood Professionals to partner with us in their practice. Our aim is that you feel well-equipped and supported to respond to the needs of the children in your life.

“Families are the first teachers, the primary caregivers, and the knowledge-holders of their children. Families have the most important role in promoting their children’s well-being and learning.”

British Columbia Early Learning Framework (BCELF, 2019, p.16)

We critically reflect on assumptions embedded in developmental theories and invite you to explore different theories and different perspectives on early childhood. The articles shared here uphold the Image of the Child outlined in the BCELF;

The image of every child as a gift, as strong and capable in their uniqueness and full of potential, living and growing in complex interdependence with humans and all world relations.

PPG is administrated by a team of Early Childhood Educators and Academics.
